I have a sample of episode 1 of the Graphic Basics podcast up and running on the Graphic Basics’ page. Not so much a sample - more of a Beta version so far.
Unfortunately, it’s currently VERY wordy!
(as it’s a video podcast, I suppose you could call it very talkie)
The idea of the podcast is to follow along with the lessons. But there aren’t any lessons in episode 1 because there’s a lot of foundation to cover before we get into the meat of the subject.
…but I think we’re going to have to break that up a bit to make it a little more interesting - as we want people to come back in the future and not scare them away with too much info!
So, the next step is to come up with a few actual lessons inserted in with the boring info - and then we can perhaps cover the groundwork over 5 episodes instead of 1.
It sounds easy… but there’s a law about that -
If you think it’s easy, you’ve not fully understood the problem.
So feel free to help me out - I’m welcoming suggestions!
There are a couple of minor editing problems in there at the moment as well as some issues with the sound quality. I’ve not corrected the errors as it’s clear we can’t move ahead with this episode. The sound issues are due to my MDD PowerMac sitting on the desk next to me - not a machine that has a good reputation as a silent Mac!!!
I’m ‘filming’ the podcast as 1280×960 which is double it’s final 640×480 size. Being able to reduce the file by half (and not a 33 or 66%) keeps things looking sharp. But it’s surprising how small some of the text and interface elements get as the video was scaled down. To rectify this, I’ll be making more use of the zoom feature in OSX for everything.
So, that’s another reason to redo at least part of it. I’m sure I’m just making loads of work for myself, but I’m sure it will all pan out in the end.
…I hope!
